Tradition with a twist. We play Jewish music from everywhere as well as some originals. We don't know Hava Nagila- maybe some day we'll get to it. But in the meantime we work on Salim Halali, Naftule Brandwein, Israeli music, chassidish music etc. etc. just trying to make some sense of it all. What's next? Who knows?
Core-tet (Gross/ Isaacson/ Kaplan/ Kaplan)-
Recorded at BooCoo- 3/6/2010.
Kol Rina- this was the first Mi Yodea piece- the version on the 'just noise' page on this site is the original demo. It has grown a bit. :-)
Five person config (Kanter/ Isaacson/ Gross/ Kaplan/ Kaplan)-
Recorded at 'zelwel studio'- 1/24/2010.
Mi Yodea- our 'theme' song
Lamidbar Eretz Lo Mayim by Sasha Argov- Done Mi Yodea style

Singing
Kol Rina described below- we played it at our first show in May. Terkisher Bulgar Tanz is from the Naftule Brandwein songbook. Singing is a shortened version of the piece we played at our first show (5/24 recording below).
Rehearsal 8/30/09-
Jeff's Bekishe. Composition- Ellie. Arrangement- Ann and Ellie.
Four person config (Kaplan/ Kaplan/ Isaacson/ Kanter)
Digitized from casette and not the best sound quality- but here is Mi Yodea live (Matt Kanter- Drum Kit, Voice/ Phil Isaacson- Digi-Horn/ Sue Kaplan- Djembe, Dumbek, Tamborine, Voice/ Eliezer Kaplan- Keyboard, dumbek, voice) 5/24/09- Kol Rina/ Jeff's Bekishe/ Mi Yodea/ And Then I Heard Myself Singing/ Al Aine Ezzerga- missing just the first couple minutes of the set- our very first gig! Thanks to John Knight for recording this.
Kol Rina is built out of Kol Rina, Sloop John B, Chosson Kallah Mazel Tov and other material.
Jeff' Bekishe, Mi Yodea, and Singing are originals. Jeff's Bekishe is about old world meeting new. Mi Yodea includes the obligatory quote from Echad Mi Yodea. Parts of Singing go back to high school. Other parts are new. Voices in the middle are Sue and Ellie.
Al Aine Azzerga is taken from the Salim Halali songbook- written by Mohamed Rayan and Abdelkim Ettorki. The drum solo at the begining is by Matt. Then exchanges of hand drum solos by the Kaplans. Arrangement by Mi Yodea.
