Keys and a little bit of delay. Rec. Oct '08 ~14:09
Bass & effects. Rec. June '08 ~8:29
Part 1- Sunshine Katz/ Stop Stop Stop (Clarke-Hicks-Nash- the Hollies)/ Sunshine Katz/ Bang Bang (Clavelle Isnard- big hit for Janis Martin, the 'female Elvis')/ Hora Nirkoda (M Lavri)/ The Fallen (and they can't get up) (Improv)
While I was doing all the 'nice' music in Jan/ Feb '08 which appears below I was also doing these e-percussion experiments. Mrs. Zelwel calls these fun- and I'd have to agree.
Demos pertaining to a current project- a bit of Jewish music.
Solo keys- in a lounge piano stylee- 'Serpents' started life as an acoustic guitar piece in the late 80's- sent on a demo sent to some New-Agey record company (rhymes with 'pecos bill') which was hot at the time (rejected goshdarn wonder why :-) - the counter theme is the only good thing that came out of a certain ill-fated project from a few years ago- these 2 bits play together nicely. ~4:16
Bass, electronics, keyboard, drum machine- no overdubs. Rec. early January '07 ~7:38
'Lemon Duck' is a series of sound improvs for electric bass and effects. This one is about Derek Bailey. Rec 1/19/06 ~5:52
Philologies Are Perfected/ Too Much Tobacky/ Louie Bolero/ Sidi Habibi Lounge piano medley, recorded in late Oct. '05. See below for descriptions (and earlier versions) of 'Louie Bolero' and 'Too Much Tobacky'. 'Louie' keeps adding more variations- this is a piece that's never going to be finished. Someday I may actually play it live somewhere. 'Philologies Are Perfected' was originally two separate pieces- the abstract, digital delay part ('Malaise') and the melody part ('Pop Tune') but the two pieces just sort of merged. 'Sidi Habibi' was performed and probably written by the great Judeo-Arabic singer Salim Halali. ~16:48
Two 'lounge piano' pieces- sort of a virtual hit single ;-). 'Louie Bolero' is my take on R Berry's 'Louie Louie'. It's something I've been working on for a while and it keeps evolving. 'April is Cruel' is a new tune- actually a new song. Inspired by Robert Wyatt in the sense of asking myself- if I could write a 'Wyatt song' what would it sound like? rec. 8/22/05 ~4:17/ ~2:08
Sunshine Katz Through The Ages Keys and devices. A blue Riley-ism with digital delay. rec. 4/2/05 ~6:29
A Lounge Piano work day blues. An early example of something I call 'lounge piano'- sort of twisted visualizations of pop tunes for solo electronic keyboards, usually, but not always, set to some sort of piano patch. Rec. 5/29/04 ~3:00
Yes I know how it's spelled. After this was recorded I did one live show using a laptop- but after that I started doing less programming and more playing. Later I found that effects boxes were so much more organic for live electronics than computers are. Much more wiggle room- for me anyways. rec. 3/14/03 ~8:27
An ambient piece. Like Harold Budd or Budd & Eno, at least in the processing. rec. 12/16/02 ~5:25
If I forget you, Jerusalem.. The simple rhythmic background is based on Hora Atik. rec. 1/1/02 ~3:46
This (oh-so-appropriately-titled) e-drum experiment from June of '01 sounds almost new-agey at times- new age on a combo of soporifics and booze. Experimental trash, fer sure, fer sure. rec. 6/4/01 ~7:14
Sound files on this page ©2001-2008 by Eliezer Kaplan. 'Louie Louie' is by Richard Berry. 'Nayem Sher' is by Abe Ellstein. 'Sidi Habibi' is probably by Salim Halali. 'Not Fade Away by Holly-Petty, Ta'am Haman by Yitzchak Navon, Stop Stop Stop by The Hollies, Bang Bang by Clavelle Isnard, Hora Nirkoda by M Lavri
