Hamilton at our wedding (wearing a Kippah out of respect for our people- Norm was not Jewish)

Hamilton

Norman Hamilton was the guy who showed me a good deal of what the world is about- most everything I needed to know about life I learned from (or at least discussed with) Hamilton.

Now if you search the web, hither-to-now the only reference to the Norman Hamilton I am referring to you'd have found is the link at the left, which is a newsletter which mentions Norm's death. That ain't right! So let this little web page stand as a tribute to the man- from those of us who remember him.

I met Norm when I was a student at night school at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was a professor in the math department. He was my main man in the whole general game of Mathematics, Computer Science, and academia. He was the guy who told me that most mathematicians shoot their wad by the time they're 30. I was 33 at the time. Just like my Mom, he said what he thought and did not hold back. He got me interested in computers and inspired the whole 'math man' side of my life. He also taught me how to play the lottery. For all the time I knew him he was a source of inspiration. Go forth and do.
